Hello friends,

In the States
First I want to thank those who donated items to the yard sale. We made $128.32 from the sales. My son, Michael Telleson, held a "Seeds For Africa" concert and raised $148. In response to our second newsletter, the Harvest Grove Project received $90 in donations. We have made a few more dollars with our jewelry sales. At this point, we have raised a total of $3,795.

In Kenya - Founder/Director of Harvest Grove David Kipkorir and his wife Purity have a new baby. Faith was born on June 19, 2006.

May 20 - Members contribute to garden expense

June 18 - Good news... we are able to send four members to the Kipkaren River Training Centre for training in home based care.

"We have planted twenty custard fruit trees on the farm and are weeding the beans and peas. We are almost finished digging the latrine. Once the rainfall begins, we shall be in a position to plant the fruit trees that we ordered from KVDA nursery."

June 19 - David's wife Purity gives birth to their new baby girl, Faith Jerop (Jerop means "born in the rainy season").

June 30 - Twenty-two banana trees are planted on the Harvest Grove property.

July 14 - David leads training about amaranth for grain and for leafy green vegetable.

"The bananas, peas and vegetables are doing well accept for the beans. We have decided to plant other crops to replace the beans."

July 22 - Purity and eighteen women recieve training in jewelry making.

"Last week on Saturday, we had 22 members in the community garden weeding. This is the time of raining at our place and crops are doing well."

August 9 - Funds are sent and applied toward the property. We now own the first acre.

The well has been dug.
Mr. David Maiyo assisted building the fence. We still need to purchase the barbed wire.
A hole for the latrine was dug. It is 8x15 ft. Later we will build the cho (bathrooom) over the hole.

David Kipkorir's sister-in-law, Beatrice Jepkurui, is learning how to make jewelry.

Goals
The -2-acre property that we are purchasing costs $7,500. The owner of the property had agreed to give us until July 2006 to pay for the property. We have already paid $3,750 toward the property. That leaves a balance of $3750 to pay off the second acre.

Do you want to help?
If you would like to pledge funds toward the purchase of the second acre of land, to the Harvest Grove Community Center, please contact me at: jayneGAV@gmail.com or call at 626-643-0331.

If you do not feel moved to donate at this time, that is fine. We also can use your encouragement, and your prayers. Thank you!
